Creative Spark is a music and media project for young people with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Run by YC Hetfordshire at the state-of-the-art XC Music and Media Studios, the project enables young people to get involved with creating and recording music, photography, film-making and animation.

At the Creative Spark LDD Music and Media Project project you will have the chance to take part in various music and media activities including:

  • Studio recording
  • Electronic music creation
  • Stop-motion animation
  • Photography
  • Film making/video editing
  • Arts and crafts
    ...and many more.

You can complete all of the above areas over the course of the year, or just drop in for areas in which you are interested.

Each topic will be covered in approximately six weeks and will allow you to learn the skills required to create music or visual media as well as related skills such as team working and problem solving.

You will have full access to all the equipment at the XC Studios. This includes a professional standard recording studio, complete with instruments, microphones, amps etc, our media suite, complete with 10 iMacs, editing and music software, cameras and many other accessories and gadgets related to the projects.

There are currently two projects running every Wednesday evening: 

  • 6.30-8.30pm for young people aged 13-16
  • 7.30-9.30pm for young people aged 17-24

The XC Studios are fully wheelchair accessible.
