St John Ambulance - Cadets in Stevenage

Sport / Outdoor AdventureHealthVolunteerLearning & CareersAdvice & Information

If you’re aged between 10 and 17 years old, you can join a St John Ambulance cadet unit. At cadets it's all about fun, adventure and community. As a cadet you will learn first aid and how to save a life. Once qualified, cadets can put their first aid and communication skills into practice by providing first aid to the public at events and teaching first aid to other young people and adults. If you become a St John's Ambulance Cadet you will learn vital skills to be the difference between life and death in an emergency.

Guided by youth leaders, cadets take part in an interactive and full programme, working towards their Grand Prior Award.

The programme enables young people to learn important life skills in a fun and safe environment, but with challenge and excitement appropriate to their age.

Cadets can choose from over 70 different subjects to help complete their award. These range from Fire Prevention and Photography to Sports & First Aid. Younger cadets learn first aid skills through our training course for young people while older cadets can undertake a community first aid or first aid at work course.

As well as providing you with the ability to be the difference between life and death, first aid training at a young age will help to build your confidence and self esteem, as well as teamwork and communication skills.

St John Ambulance also has other youth programmes for young people to get involved with: if you’re aged five to 10 you can join Badgers; and if you’re in higher education you can join LINKS.
