Gaddesden Place Riding for the Disabled Centre is a registered charity dedicated to teaching disabled people to ride horses. We operate Tuesday through Saturday in term time, and anyone over the age of four can ride with us.

Volunteer with ESSA and you can learn to sail or paddle and assist their instructors with groups of young people. Volunteers who prefer to stay on land learn skills to keep the boats and site in good condition. ESSA is a charity for young people to learn about water activities. The centre is run by volunteers aged 12 or more who help out on land and on water. This is an opportunity to learn skills, meet new people and work together as part of the ESSA Crew.

CHIPS Play Scheme Volunteers

CHIPS runs play schemes for children with additional needs aged 3-19 years. We are looking for volunteers to help at our play schemes on Saturdays (9.30am-1.00pm) and during school holidays (9.00am-4.00pm). There are CHIPS play schemes in Hertford, Ware, Cheshunt, Hoddesdon and Bishop's Stortford. Our volunteers can be as young as 12 years old. If you're doing the Duke of Edinburgh Award, volunteering at a CHIPS play scheme will go towards the service section. We ask for a minimum volunteering commitment of six months. If you are thinking of a career in child care come and gain experience with us. We are happy to give references.
